DGCC Mission

DGCC Mission Statement

The mission of the DGCC is to help children experience the joys of choral singing in a positive environment.  The children will learn the fundamental techniques of breath control, articulation, tone production, tone placement, enunciation, as well as the fundamentals of reading music, musical interpretation, concentration, and concert protocol.  The methods of teaching will be tailored to fit the children’s level of maturity, physiological development, and intellectual potential.

If I have specific questions about DGCC, who should I contact?
Please reach out to your child's music teacher at their school building for additional questions and information.

Who can be in DGCC?
DGCC is open to all 5th and 6th graders interested in singing.

Is there an audition?

No! There isn't an audition to join. Sign up for DGCC happens twice a year, once in the fall and then once again after our winter concert. Be on the lookout for more specific information from your child's music teacher.

When and where are rehearsals?

DGCC practices at O'Neill Middle School on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Is transportation provided to O'Neill for rehearsals?
No, District 58 does not provide transportation for rehearsals, but we encourage parents to set up carpools with families at their home school who are also participating in DGCC.

Does it cost anything to be in DGCC?

No, there aren't any fees to be a member of DGCC. We do have shirts that students wear for our concerts, but if the price is an issue for your family, please reach out and we will assist with the cost.

Can my child be in DGCC and an instrumental group like band or orchestra?

Yes, these ensembles rehearse and perform at different times, so you can be in DGCC and an instrumental activity.

How do I sign up my child for DGCC?

Contact your chid's music teacher for more information.
