More than 450 students in grades 3–8 gathered on Saturday, Feb. 21 at O'Neill Middle School for the annual District 58 Reading Games. Seventy-eight teams representing 15 schools participated in this spirited competition celebrating literacy, teamwork, and a shared love of reading.
Students prepared by reading up to nine books each, then worked collaboratively to answer detailed questions that tested their comprehension, recall, and critical thinking skills. The Reading Games introduces participants to a wide range of genres, authors, and series they may not otherwise select, while creating opportunities to collaborate, exchange ideas, and connect with peers over great books.
