Henry Puffer invites community to Community Art Fair art auction!

Some kids collect comic books. Others save baseball cards. Henry Puffer School collects bottle caps. Thousands of bottle caps, in all sizes and colors. They start collecting them each fall. In the spring, the Student Council transforms the individual bottle caps into truly majestic art murals.

The Henry Puffer Student Council will auction off each art mural –there’s five total – during its fourth annual Community Art Fair, which takes place during the spring open house on Thursday, May 4 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Puffer. This year’s murals depict a daisy, tulip, watermelon, turtle and whale. The bottle caps are drilled into sturdy painted wooden cutouts.

“The murals would look great as a yard or garden decoration,” said Student Council Moderator Katie Hurckes.

This year’s Community Art Fair auction is a silent auction open to the community. Anyone may place a bid by texting the code “PUFFER” to the number 855-735-BIDR(2437). Bidders will receive a text prompting you to start bidding. Community members may also submit bids in person during the open house.

All auction proceeds will support Henry Puffer’s new playground initiative, called “Everybody Plays at Puffer.”

“I have a friend who’s in a wheelchair, and it’s hard for her to play with us because of the woodchips on the playground,” said Molly, a Student Council member. “We’re hoping to replace the woodchips with a more accessible material with the new playground.”
