Indian Trail students raised an incredible $1,692.40 for the American Childhood Cancer Organization during their Student Council’s recent “PJammin for Kids with Cancer” fundraiser. The Student Council held this fundraiser in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness (Gold Ribbon) Month in September.
The Student Council invited students to wear their pajamas and to bring a small donation to school on Sept. 27 to show solidarity with the many children who fight cancer every day, including Norah. Norah is the young daughter of former Indian Trail teacher Liz Wesolowski.
“We dedicated this event to Super Norah!” said Ashley Austin, an Indian Trail fourth grade teacher and Student Council co-sponsor. “I am very proud of our students’ dedication to this cause. They really rallied together to show support for the Wesolowski family.”
During the fundraiser, Mrs. Wesolowski and her daughters visited Indian Trail. Students created and presented gold “get well” cards for Norah, her family, and other children fighting cancer at Lurie Children’s Hospital.
The Student Council chose a pajama day for this fundraiser in honor of the children who often wear pajamas while bravely fighting cancer in the hospital.
The Student Council is already planning its next activities, which include wearing pink for breast cancer awareness on Oct. 11, a kindness day on Oct. 16, and several Red Ribbon Week celebrations Oct. 21-25. View this video to learn more!
