District 58 Celebrates VIP Day at Middle Schools

District 58 proudly continued one of its most cherished traditions last week: VIP (Very Important Person) Day. Seventh grade students at Herrick and O’Neill welcomed the special VIPs in their lives—parents, grandparents, relatives, mentors, and close family friends—for a meaningful and memorable visit.

Each student had the opportunity to invite important people who have supported and encouraged them throughout their lives. Together, students and their guests enjoyed a program designed to highlight student learning, school community, and the recently completed facility renovations.

The celebration featured musical performances by student ensembles from both schools, showcasing the talents and hard work of District 58 musicians. VIPs and students then participated in guided tours of the newly renovated buildings, giving visitors a firsthand look at modernized learning spaces designed to support collaboration, creativity, and student success. Families and guests also took advantage of photo opportunities to help commemorate the day and capture special moments together.

VIP Day continues to be a meaningful tradition that strengthens connections between students, families, and schools. District 58 is grateful to all the VIPs who joined in celebrating the important role they play in students’ lives and education.
