The District 58 Board of Education will hold a Regular Business Meeting on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 7 p.m. at Downers Grove Village Hall. The public may also view the meeting remotely, via the Village of Downers Grove’s YouTube page. After the meeting has concluded, the Village will process the video and send it to District 58 to be posted on the District’s YouTube channel.
The meeting agenda covers many topics, including:
- An El Sierra School presentation
- A Spotlight on our Schools: Education Foundation of District 58
- A Spotlight on our Schools: Five-Year Financial Plan
- A report on the April 5 Financial Advisory Committee
- A monthly report on SASED
- A recommendation to approve the adoption and purchase of English Language Arts curricular resources
- A recommendation to approve a new Gifted Education Program delivery model for identified 4th graders in the 2024-25 school year
- A recommendation to approve a five-year Financial Plan
- A recommendation to approve a one-year contract extension with First Student for student transportation for the 2024-25 school year
- A recommendation to approve a one-year contract extension with Sunrise for special education transportation
- A recommendation to approve a resolution to honorably dismiss some full and part-time teachers until student enrollment numbers are known. The District hopes that most can be hired back; school code requires that notice be given to affected teachers 45 days prior to the end of the school year
- A recommendation to regarding electric rates
- A recommendation to approve the construction consent agenda, which includes contracts for material testing services, furniture for Phase I elementary schools and site work for the Highland playground

How to make a public comment during the meeting:
The Board encourages public comment from the community. There will be an opportunity for in-person visitors to make a public comment. Members of the public may communicate with the Board at any time by emailing boe@dg58.org.
