Dear Incoming Seventh Grade Families,
We are so excited to welcome our new and current families to our middle schools this August! We are already gearing up for next school year, and we wanted to share some key information to help you and your child prepare. Read on to learn details!
Sneak Preview Registration:
Both Herrick and O’Neill Middle Schools will host Sneak Preview on Tuesday, Aug. 16 and Wednesday, Aug. 17 to help incoming seventh grade students transition to the middle school environment. The Sneak Preview program is fully funded and supported by the Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58. Students participate in a 1 ½ hour session for two consecutive days. Student Schedules:
Students will receive their seventh grade schedules and locker information during Locker Setup Night on Tuesday Aug. 23. The first day of school is Thursday, Aug 25. It is a full day!
Chromebook Distribution:
Students will be issued a Chromebook within the first few days of school.
Weekly Newsletter:
Both Herrick and O’Neill provide parents/guardians a weekly newsletter. The purpose of this is to share important school information and upcoming event details for families and students. See the box below for a link to our most recent newsletters.
Summer Reading List:
All incoming students are encouraged to complete a reading activity over the summer. Please click the links below to see more information about the Summer Reading List.
Gym Uniforms:
Students at the middle school level get changed for Physical Education. Below you will find the flier and information to purchase a gym uniform.
Summer Sports Camps:
At this time, the middle schools in District 58 are planning on hosting athletic summer camps as we have done in the past. Please be patient as we work out logistics and facility availability. We will be communicating with all families within the next few weeks once information is finalized/available.
