District 58 families invited to take equity survey

equity survey

As we have previously shared, District 58 is proactively participating in an equity audit for the purpose of identifying areas of strength and needed improvement. The District’s community-created Strategic Plan calls for the District to examine equity, and the Illinois State Board of Education now requires this as an accountability measure. The audit will allow for a comprehensive analysis of qualitative and quantitative information. Our goal is to ensure that all District 58 students, staff and families feel welcomed and able to participate in our educational community, and to ensure that each student has equitable opportunities to reach their fullest potential.

An important part of this audit is receiving feedback from students, staff and families.  To that end, we are asking each of these groups — staff, families and students (in grades 4-8) — to complete a brief, anonymous survey.

Please click the below links to take the survey:

We ask that this survey be completed once per family or once per family within a household.  The survey window will close on Friday, Dec. 17.

The student surveys will be administered to all students in grades 4-8 on Thursday, Dec. 16. Students in grades 4-6 will take the survey with their homeroom teacher; middle school students will take the survey during homebase.

While the entire student survey cannot be widely shared prior to administration, a copy of the student survey questions will be available at the District Office (2300 Warrenville Road, Suite 200NE) for viewing beginning Monday, Dec. 6. Parents and guardians may visit the District Office between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and request the questions for viewing. If for any reason you would prefer that your student(s) not participate in the survey, please email their homeroom/homebase teacher and principal indicating your request.  Again, please know that the surveys do not collect any identifiable information for any stakeholders.

We appreciate the opportunity to learn from all of our students, staff and families of their experiences relative to educational equity. The results of this survey, our focus groups and district data analysis will be shared in the Spring of 2022.  If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact Justin Sisul at jsisul@dg58.org or 630-719-5867.
