School Year 2021-22 July Update #2 from Dr. Russell

School Year 2021-22 July Update #2 from Dr. Russell

Dear District 58 Families and Staff,

As we have learned time and again throughout the pandemic, things can change very rapidly. Immediately after the School Year 2021-22 July Update Letter was sent out yesterday, the District was made aware that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidance on mask wearing for fully vaccinated individuals. Later in the day, the CDC guidance was updated for K-12 schools. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) immediately adopted the new CDC guidance. The agency further stated, “IDPH will be updating school FAQs and other guidance posted online to reflect the latest CDC Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People.”

District 58 is working to understand how these changes will impact the start of the school year and will share updated information with staff and families as soon as possible.

As always, we value your input and feedback. If there are questions or topics you want to be sure are addressed as the plan gets finalized, we invite you to submit them by filling out this form. The District will closely review and monitor this form and we respectfully ask that you share your feedback here versus email. Our administrative team will review your input and take it into consideration as we prepare to share the final details of the opening of school.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and partnership.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kevin B. Russell

Superintendent of Schools
