Beginning Tuesday September 14, District 58 will provide all children who reside within the community, aged 18 and under, six free breakfasts and lunches with milk at a variety of locations each week. Families are welcome to pick up meals at any of the locations listed below.
The effort is part of a cooperative between Downers Grove Grade School District 58, High School District 99 and Woodridge School District 68 called Wood-Grove Feeding Our Future Cooperative. It was a collaborative community effort developed this spring to ensure all children aged 18 and under in our communities could receive a breakfast and lunch, with milk, six days per week. Our three school districts partnered with their food service vendors (Aramark, Open Kitchens and Chartwells), and their transportation provider (First Student) to launch this initiative. Throughout the Spring and Summer months, our Cooperative served over 100,000 meals to local children in need.
To begin this school year, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), had informed districts that we would need to return to our regular school year meal service programs. Therefore, we were unable to provide free meals to all children as we had been doing throughout the Summer. However, they have recently released updated guidance that has extended our ability to participate in the Summer Food Service Program through December 31, 2020.

For families that are unable to pick up or receive meals during these times, a delivery service will also be available. ***If you are already on our delivery routes, you do not need to sign up again.***
Please sign up here, and meals will be delivered to your door on Mondays and Thursdays between 10:00 am and 11:30 am. Please know that deliveries are contact-free and meals will be left outside your door.
