Good Evening District 58 Families and Staff,

Earlier this week, all Illinois school districts received updated guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) regarding the reopening of schools. This new guidance addresses a number of points including managing ill students and/or staff, face coverings and PPE and their use in special situations, how to identify close contacts, and alternative strategies for school closures, among other topics. The guidance is in a “FAQ” format and can be accessed by clicking here.

A special Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Herrick Middle School so the administration can discuss this guidance and the impact it may have on District 58 with the members of the Board. At this meeting, the Board will make a final decision on whether school will be in-person or remote to start the school year. In-person attendance at the meeting will be limited due to Phase 4 restrictions. However, the meeting will be live-streamed via the District 58 YouTube Channel. The agenda for the meeting can be found on the District 58 Board Docs website.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kevin Russell

Superintendent of Schools
