View the Herrick and O’Neill Eighth Grade Virtual Promotion ceremonies

Dear District 58 Families and Staff,

On behalf of District 58, I am very proud to congratulate our Herrick and O’Neill eighth graders as they formally are promoted to high school this evening!

District 58 annually celebrates its eighth graders during formal Promotion Ceremonies. Unfortunately, this year’s in-person celebrations were canceled due to the pandemic.

Instead, we invite all eighth graders, their families, their friends and the greater District 58 community to view our virtual Herrick and O’Neill Promotion Ceremonies, via District 58’s YouTube account. While this is not the Promotion Ceremony we had all envisioned, our staff and students worked hard to create a virtual celebration that follows the traditional format of our in-person Promotion Ceremonies and replicates this joyful experience as closely as possible.

The Promotion Ceremony links premiere this evening, Tuesday, June 2 at 4 p.m., on the District’s YouTube page. We shared Promotion information with eighth grade families in advance, but we wanted to take this time to invite the entire District 58 community to view our Promotion celebrations, either now or at a later time. Both ceremonies will remain on the District’s YouTube page, so they can be viewed at any time.

To the District 58 Class of 2020: I am so proud of you and your accomplishments. You persevered through many unique challenges this spring as you completed your District 58 learning experience at home. I want to thank you for your grit and your endurance during this unprecedented time. I hope you each enjoy a wonderful summer, and I wish you much success in high school and beyond!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kevin Russell
Superintendent of Schools
