Message from Dr. Russell about Jan. 12 E-Learning Day

Dear District 58 community,

Due to the impending extreme and hazardous weather conditions, all District 58 schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 12, for in-person learning. A remote e-learning day will be held. Because our school buildings are closed, Champions before and after school care are also closed.

As eager as we are to keep students physically in our school buildings, the safety of our students and staff must be our top priority.  The National Weather Service reports that significant snow is expected to fall in Downers Grove overnight and throughout the afternoon, which is expected to create hazardous travel conditions at both arrival and dismissal times, presenting a significant concern and serious safety risk.

Students will receive communication from their teachers on how and when to connect and engage in e-learning.

Families and staff can learn more about how District 58 makes weather-related closure decisions at https://www.dg58.org/family-resources/winter

Please stay safe and warm.

Sincerely,
Dr. Kevin B. Russell
Superintendent of Schools
