District 58 invites community to participate in focus groups on equity

focus groups on equity

Dear District 58 Families,

As you may have heard, District 58 is proactively participating in an equity audit for the purpose of identifying areas of strength and needed improvement. The audit will allow for a comprehensive analysis of qualitative and quantitative information. Our goal is to ensure that all District 58 students, staff and families feel welcomed and able to participate in our educational community, and to ensure that each student has equitable opportunities to reach their fullest potential.

As a part of this audit, we will be conducting focus groups, in which community members are able to share their perspectives and experiences.  The focus groups will be available in person and virtually in late November and December, and last approximately one hour. If you are interested in participating in a focus group, please fill out this interest form.  Spaces in the focus groups are limited, so we ask that you please respond by Friday, Nov. 19

In December, we will also send out a survey to District families, staff and students in grades 4-8 to ensure that all stakeholders have an opportunity for input.  All surveys will be optional and anonymous; in particular, students will not be required to fill out a survey, and families will be notified prior to surveys being shared with students. We anticipate sharing survey information with families on Dec. 1.

If you have any questions about the District 58 equity audit process, please contact Justin Sisul at jsisul@dg58.org or 630-719-5867.  We look forward to sharing the results of the audit with our community in the spring as a part of our continued efforts to ensure that each student in District 58 has an outstanding and high quality educational experience.

Sincerely,

Justin Sisul
