Dear Incoming Seventh and Eighth Grade Students and Parents/Guardians,
The O’Neill Language Arts/Reading department wishes you a wonderful summer. Attached you will find this year’s summer reading list for each grade, as well as a brief summary of each book. Several different genres of books, as well as interests, have been listed as recommendations.
We ask each student to select and read a minimum of THREE books either from the suggested summer reading list or of your own choice. Students should read ONE fiction text, ONE nonfiction text, as well as ONE choice text. Also, you must choose books you have NOT yet read. All students will need to have read at least three books over the summer in order to complete an assignment/activity to be given in your Seventh or Eighth Grade Reading and Language Arts class.
Have a great summer and take advantage of this unique opportunity to read THREE or more great books! The summer reading list can also be found on the O’Neill Middle School website. You can find many of these books at the Downers Grove Public Library, Anderson’s Bookshop, Barnes and Noble, or online at Amazon.com.
Sincerely,
The O’Neill Reading/Language Arts Department
