Upcoming Events at El Sierra

Welcome to El Sierra School Web Site. El Sierra is a kindergarten through sixth grade school. We have two sections of each grade level. In addition to classroom instruction, we provide physical education, music, art, computers, library, English as a Second Language, social work and special education services.

The teachers at El Sierra School are highly qualified, dedicated professionals. They work hard to ensure a very positive and supportive educational environment for the El Sierra children. We have an excellent curriculum for reading, math, writing, science, social studies, technology, art, physical education and music.

I am always excited and eager to meet the El Sierra students and parents. I look forward to working with the wonderful children, parents, teachers and PTA. Please be sure to check our web site during the school year for current events, student activities, and other exciting educational experiences during the school year.

MATH PROGRAMS FOR NEXT YEAR

The final four math programs we are considering for adoption for next year are the following at the elementary level:  enVision Math, Math in focus, Go Math, Math Connects.  For the middle school level we have the following three programs:  Math in Focus, Digits, and Glencoe Math.

Samples of these programs will be on display in the Technology Lab at Longfellow from November 1st through the 11th.  Feedback forms will be available in hard copy form for teachers and parents both to complete and submit.  These will also be available for parents and teachers to complete online if they would rather not take the time to complete when they view the sample materials.  Websites will also be given for teachers and parents to view information online regarding these programs.  The Math Curriculum Committee will review this feedback at their December meeting.
