As District 58 welcomes 33 new certified staff members for the 2026–27 school year, local community partners have helped make their first week a memorable one. The Downers Grove Lions Club and the Education Foundation of Downers Grove Grade School District 58 each hosted welcome luncheons, giving new teachers the chance to connect with community leaders and learn more about the organizations that support our schools and students.

The luncheons are part of New Teacher Week, which introduces new staff to District 58, its schools and the broader community they will serve.

The DG Lions Club hosted its 95th annual luncheon for new District 58 teachers, welcoming them to the community and sharing more about the Lions Club’s longstanding commitment to serving Downers Grove.

The Education Foundation of DG58 also hosted a luncheon that brought new teachers together with several of District 58’s valued community partners, including Downers Grove Police and Fire, Downers Grove Park District and Downers Grove Public Library. New staff had the chance to meet representatives from these organizations, learn more about the services they provide and discover the many resources available.

These luncheons gave new teachers a chance to get to know the community and the many organizations that support District 58 students and families. District 58 is grateful to our community partners for welcoming our new staff and for their continued support of our students, families and schools.
