Thirty-three new certified staff members gathered today to kick off 2026 New Teacher Week and begin their journey with Downers Grove Grade School District 58. Administrators warmly welcomed the new educators at the entrance as they arrived for the first day of a week focused on learning, connection and preparation for the 2026-27 school year.
Throughout New Teacher Week, new staff members will learn more about District 58’s mission, vision and priorities, as well as key information and resources to help them get started in their new roles. They will participate in professional development, connect with District leaders and colleagues, and gain a deeper understanding of the students, families and communities they will serve.
As the week continues, new teachers will transition to their individual schools and classrooms, where they will have opportunities to meet colleagues, prepare their learning environments and get ready to welcome students when the new school year begins.
