2012, Spelling Bee Information

Pierce Downer will again be conducting a school spelling bee for students in grades 3-6.  Students and parents have access to word lists to help prepare for the various rounds, and it’s not too early to start studying.

January 26, 2012: All students in grades 3-6 will participate in a classroom-level, written spelling bee.  The top-five-scoring students in each classroom will advance to the next round.  Should a top-five student not want to participate in the next round, the student with the next highest score will take his/her spot.

February 1, 2012: The top five students from each classroom will participate in an oral, grade-level spelling bee.  The top two students from each grade level (3-6) will participate in the next round.

February 7, 2012:  The top two students from grades 3-6 will participate in an oral, school-level spelling bee.  The top student will advance to the county-level spelling bee, and the runner-up will be the alternate.

February 21, 2012: The DuPage County spelling bee will be held in Lisle, IL.
